Do I need annual or single trip European breakdown cover?
Whether you need annual or single trip cover depends on how often you drive to Europe, and how long you’re going away for.
Annual European breakdown cover is best if you drive to Europe multiple times in a year, as it usually works out cheaper per trip. You’ll be covered for unlimited trips during the year, for up to 90 days per trip.
Single trip European breakdown cover is usually best for one-off trips to Europe. You can buy cover for a trip lasting from one day up to 180 days.
Things to consider with annual European breakdown cover
What’s covered and what’s not depends on the level of cover you choose. So, make sure you check the terms and conditions before you buy. Here are a few things you should keep in mind with annual European breakdown cover.
- Each trip is limited to a maximum of 90 days. With annual European cover, you’re covered for unlimited journeys during your policy – but each trip is limited to a maximum of 90 days.
- There may be a claim limit. With Comprehensive Plus, you can make as many claims as you need per year. With Comprehensive you can make up to 3 claims per year, with a maximum of 1 claim per trip.
- The cost of parts isn’t covered. If we can’t repair your vehicle at the roadside, we’ll contribute towards garage labour costs and cover the cost of diagnosing the fault. But the cost of parts isn’t included.
- Where you’re going. We’ve split countries into 3 zones and how much your cover costs depends on which zone (or zones) you’re driving in.
- Your vehicle. The age, make and model of your vehicle can affect the cost of your cover, but we do offer European breakdown cover for older cars.
- Reason for your trip. Our standard annual cover covers you when travelling for leisure. Travelling to Europe for business? Take a look at our European business breakdown cover.
