Simon Williams
Breakdown cover, EV and Road Safety Expert
"I joined the RAC press office in June 2012, bringing with me a strong background in journalism and public relations that I've gained over many years. Since then, I've built up a broad knowledge of all the key motoring issues and am frequently asked about them on radio and television. I also lobby on behalf of RAC members and drivers. As part of this I spend time meeting ministers, MPs, peers and civil servants in Westminster and Whitehall."
During his free time, Simon enjoys walking his dog in the countryside.
Simon's goal
“My goal is to champion the issues that matter most to drivers. Whether that's the standard of road surfaces, the price of fuel, EV public charging costs, road safety, or campaigning to make sure private parking enforcement is fair and proportionate. I have a passion for using data to show the full scale of problems. And I always aim to give simple, clear advice that supports safer, easier and more affordable driving.”
Simon's experience
Head of PR and External Affairs, RAC
In his current role, Simon leads communications on key motoring issues for the RAC. This includes fuel prices, electric vehicles, and the state of the roads. He works to raise awareness of breakdown cover and roadside support. And he makes sure drivers' voices are heard across media, government, and the wider industry.

Sky News – Pothole breakdowns hit record high, says RAC - with nearly 6,000 callouts over 'substandard state' of roads
Simon commented that the RAC's analysis of breakdowns including potholes, "is sadly once again showing that the substandard state of the country's local roads is causing a world of pain for drivers, let alone those on two wheels."
