Jaecoo 7 drives into Guinness World Record history

The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P has entered the Guinness World Records, after it achieved the lowest fuel consumption for a UK National Three Peaks Challenge with a plug-in-hybrid-powered production SUV.
Drivers Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke completed the record attempt between the 19th and 20th of September 2026, alongside TV presenter Ben Shephard.
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon) in under 24 hours.
Participants cover around 23 miles on foot, tackle more than 3,000 metres of ascent and typically travel between the peaks by road, making it one of the UK's toughest endurance challenges.
However, this record setting journey reimagined the event, where it combined almost 470 miles of real-world driving with three demanding mountain ascents, creating a rigorous demonstration of plug-in hybrid capability under genuine driving conditions.
Between each climb, Ben was driven by efficiency experts Kevin and Sam, whose experience in setting multiple fuel-economy and EV efficiency records helped maximise the Jaecoo 7 SHS-P’s performance throughout the challenge.
The record attempt was independently verified by the RAC, which ensured the integrity of the result.
Webfleet, Bridgestone’s advanced fleet management platform, monitored the journey throughout, recording a total distance of 469.5 miles, while Guinness World Records officially verified an average fuel consumption figure of 68.7mpg.
Victor Zhang, Managing Director, Jaecoo UK, said: “A Guinness World Records title is recognised the world over, which made it the perfect way to show what the Jaecoo 7 SHS-P and our fifth-generation Super Hybrid System can do outside the lab.
“Averaging 68.7 mpg across almost 470 miles of motorways, mountain roads and changing weather is exactly the kind of real-world efficiency our customers benefit from every day.
“Achieving a Guinness World Records title under those conditions, independently verified by the RAC, proves the capability built into every Jaecoo 7 SHS-P – and we’re thrilled to have done it alongside Ben, Kevin, and Sam.”
After completing the challenge, Shephard commented: "I’ve wanted to take on the Three Peaks for years, and doing it as part of a Guinness World Records attempt with Jaecoo added a whole new level of pressure.
“Three mountains, three nations and a whole lot of rain were brutal on the legs, so the time between the climbs really mattered.
“The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P was so comfortable and quiet that I could genuinely rest and recover on the road, while Kevin and Sam got incredible efficiency out of it and Cai from Lost Earth Adventures guided me on the hills. “Quite honestly, the fact that they all put up with me was perhaps the biggest test of all! Coming down from the final summit, knowing we’d done it together, is a feeling I won't forget.”
