What is an anti-roll bar link?

An anti-roll bar link is a small suspension component that connects the anti-roll bar to the car’s suspension system.

Its job is to help keep the car stable when cornering and reduce body roll.

The links help with stability, handling, and ride comfort. They contain joints that allow movement as the vehicle travels over uneven or damaged road surfaces and varying road cambers.

If you notice any problems with the general ride handling of your vehicle, you should take it to a trusted local garage.

Anti-roll bar link replacement cost

However, this price can vary due to a wide range of factors that including make, model, age, level of servicing, and condition of the vehicle and related parts, which may also require replacement.

Anti-roll bar linkage issues

Anti-roll bar links are common wear and tear components on a vehicle, that do deteriorate over time.

When they become worn or damaged, they can severely impact safety and ride handling.

Here are some of the more common symptoms and causes of worn linkage:

  • Knocking or rattling noises when driving over bumps or potholes
  • Clunking sounds from the suspension, particularly at low speeds
  • Increased body roll when cornering
  • Less precise steering and handling
  • Excessive movement in the anti-roll bar
  • Impact damage from potholes, speed bumps or kerbs
  • General wear and tear due to age and mileage

The links are a vital part of the vehicle’s suspension system, so if there are any problems, contact a mobile mechanic as soon as possible.

Alternatively, you can visit a garage to get your car checked over and back on the road.

Can I fix an anti-roll bar link?

Generally, a worn or damaged anti-roll bar link cannot be repaired and will need to be replaced. It is strongly advised to have a professional carry out the work, due to the safety considerations and the complexity of some modern vehicle designs.

Visit a trusted local garage to get the part fixed or replaced as soon as possible.
