The top 10 most popular vans in the UK

The UK’s new light commercial vehicle (LCV) market slipped by 3.4% in March, with 49,505 vans, pickups and 4x4s registered, according to the latest data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

While March is usually the strongest month of the year for registrations, this marked the weakest new‑plate March since 2023, reflecting the ongoing pressures facing businesses and the wider economy.

The overall decline was largely due to a steep drop in pickup sales, which fell by 54.0% to 3,732 units, offsetting gains in the market’s largest segments.

Registrations of large vans rose by 8.7% to 34,805 units, while medium‑sized vans saw a 2.3% increase to 8,365. New 4x4 deliveries also climbed sharply, up 41.3% to 1,871 vehicles.

In contrast, demand for small vans dropped by 53.8% to 732 units, following a significant surge in the same month last year.
