One-in-five drivers to make the most of the near-summery November warmth this weekend
A fifth of UK drivers (22%) are planning to make the most of the unseasonably mild weather this weekend by taking a leisure trip by car, an RAC Breakdown poll of 4,800 motorists has found.1
With the Met Office predicting that temperatures could reach the mid-teens over the next few days, or even higher where the sun comes out, there is a great opportunity for people to get away, whether that’s a trip to the coast or hills, or just a barbecue with friends or family.
RAC spokesman Rod Dennis said: “It’s hard to believe we’re less than three weeks away from the start of meteorological winter with temperatures this weekend up into the mid- or even high-teens.
“Our research shows that plenty of drivers are planning to make the most of this unusual burst of November warmth before temperatures fall back to something more autumnal next week.
“The incredibly mild weather shouldn’t, however, lull drivers into a false sense of security, so we urge anyone taking a trip by car – especially a longer one – to make sure it’s ready for the road.
“Checking oil and coolant, together with tyre pressures and tread, takes just a few minutes but can make the difference between a smooth trip and one ruined by a breakdown.”
