What’s included in a car service?
The checks and maintenance included in your service will vary depending on your car and the type of service you choose. All services include a visual check. For example, looking at the bodywork and wheels. They’ll also check things like your brakes and gearbox are working properly. If you have an electric or hybrid car, they’ll check your charging ports, cables and connections.

We’re not offering new RAC Service & MOT Plans. But if you already have a plan, it will cover your registered vehicle, which must be a car or van that was less than 20 years old at the time you opened your Service Plan, with an engine of 3.0 litres or smaller and weighing less than 3.5 tonnes. The Plan doesn’t cover hybrid or electric vehicles.
The plan includes a full service, an interim service and 2 MOTs, over the course of 2 years. And it’s easy to book – just log in and choose from a range of local garages presented through the handy Who Can Fix My Car portal. Please note, your plan doesn’t cover additional works, like repairs highlighted after an MOT.
With an RAC Service & MOT Plan, yes. You’re covered for 2 MOTs, plus a full service and an interim service. Just make sure you book through your service plan account.
No. If you’re on an RAC Service & MOT Plan, you won’t need to wait around before you book your service. Unlike some other providers we let you book a service or MOT right away. However, if you pay monthly and want to book a service in the first 3 months of your plan, we’ll ask for a payment at the time of booking. The top up amount varies depending on how many months you have already paid, but will be no more than 9 monthly payments. Your remaining monthly payments will be reduced to reflect this early booking payment.
No. You can have your service and MOT done separately or together. Just remember to book them through your service plan account.
You can’t transfer the plan to another vehicle, but you can cancel your current plan at any time by calling 0800 048 7488.
You can end your service plan at any time. Fees may apply. You may get a partial refund of what you’ve paid depending on how many payments you’ve made and if you’ve had any MOTs or services before cancelling.
