Your questions answered

This plan is for petrol and diesel cars and vans that are less than 20 years old at time of opening a Service Plan, that have an engine of 3.0 litres or smaller and which weigh less than 3.5 tonnes. At the moment, it doesn’t cover hybrid or electric vehicles. If your vehicle doesn’t fit our criteria for a Service Plan, you can still book a one-off service or MOT from one of our RAC Approved Garages – just book here.
What does a service plan include?
The plan includes a full service, an interim service and 2 MOTs, over the course of 2 years. And it’s easy to book – just log in and choose from a range of local garages presented through the handy Who Can Fix My Car portal. Please note, your plan doesn’t cover additional works, like repairs highlighted after an MOT.
Does a service plan cover my MOT?
With an RAC Service & MOT Plan, yes. You’re covered for 2 MOTs, plus a full service and an interim service. Just make sure you book through your service plan account.
Do I need to pay anything extra if I book straight away?
Yes. Unlike some other providers we let you book a service or MOT right away. So you won’t need to wait around. However, if you pay monthly and want to book a service in the first 3 months of your plan, we’ll ask for a payment at the time of booking. The top up amount varies depending on how many months you have already paid, but will be no more than 9 monthly payments. Your remaining monthly payments will be reduced to reflect this early booking payment.
Do I have to have the MOT and service together?
No. You can have your service and MOT done separately or together. Just remember to book them through your service plan account.
What if I change my car before my plan has finished?
You can’t transfer the plan to another vehicle, but you can cancel your current plan at any time by calling 0800 048 7488.
Can I end my plan?
You can end your service plan at any time. Fees may apply. You may get a partial refund of what you’ve paid depending on how many payments you’ve made and if you’ve had any MOTs or services before cancelling.
How do I book the full service, interim service or MOTs included in my plan?
You can book your services or MOTs by logging into the redemption portal, found here. Just select a garage (or mobile mechanic) and a date that suits you.
