MOT Fee Guarantee terms and conditions
Get a service from RAC Mobile Mechanics at home. We're so confident in the quality of our work, if you fail your MOT over something we checked, we'll refund you the price of your test.
1. Eligibility
To qualify for the MOT Fee Guarantee:
- You must book and complete an Interim, Full, or Manufacturer Service with an RAC Mobile Mechanic.
- Services such as Repairs, Diagnostics, or Oil & Filter Changes are not eligible.
- Vehicles eligible include Petrol, Diesel, Hybrid and EVs.
2. Exclusions
Refunds will not be issued for MOT failures due to:
- Items that were correctly operational/in acceptable condition at time of service. This includes lightbulbs and windscreen wiper blades.
- Emissions-related failures, which are outside the scope of service checks.
- Any rust related failures because of defects included in section 6.2 of the MOT inspection manual – www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles
- Any failures because of a defect within section 6.2.1 of the MOT inspection manual – www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles
- Items flagged as a concern/advisory on the RAC Service document completed by the RAC Mobile Mechanic.
- Failures that were rectified and passed during the MOT test (i.e., “Pass under rectification at station”).
3. Claims Process
- The MOT must be completed within 30 days of your RAC service at a DVSA-approved test centre.
- To make a claim, you must submit evidence of MOT failure and the MOT receipt to [email protected] within 7 days of the MOT test.
4. Scheme Rules
- The maximum refund is £54.85 or the actual MOT fee paid, whichever is lower.
- Refunds will be issued via cheque within 28 days of an approved claim.
- Only 1 MOT Fee refund can be issued for each service completed by the RAC.
- The RAC reserves the right to modify or cancel the offer and amend these terms at any time at its sole discretion.
- All claim decisions made by the RAC are final.
