Retail giant Amazon has announced it will start selling cars online from 2024 – although the service will only be available for customers in the United States.
It isn't clear if Amazon will sell cars in Europe or the UK. Initially, there will only be a limited number of Hyundai vehicles available to buy in the USA, where shoppers will be able to selected models from local suppliers.
On the collaboration with Hyundai, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said: "Hyundai is a very innovative company that shares Amazon’s passion for trying to make customers’ lives better and easier every day.
“Our broad, strategic partnership should do just that, from changing the ease with which customers can buy vehicles online to making it simple to use Alexa in Hyundai vehicles for entertainment, shopping, smart home adjustments, and calendar checks to enabling Hyundai to transform their customer experiences and business operations by moving to Amazon Web Services.
"We look forward to inventing together for many years.”

From 2025, Amazon and Hyundai will work together to create a new generation of in-car infotainment systems. Hyundai's next-generation vehicles will feature Alexa Assistant, allowing the driver to use voice commands to play music, program sat nav directions, set reminders, update to-do lists, and check calendars.
They will also be able to control their smart home from the road, such as asking to warm up the house on their way home, double-checking doors are locked, and managing smart lighting and Alexa routines.
According to the partnership between Amazon and Hyundai, this new digital shopping experience will make it easier for drivers to use their vehicles and purchase a new car online.
In October, Porsche become the latest carmaker to integrate Google Maps and Google Assistance to its cars. General Motors, Renault and Ford already use embedded Google technical in their vehicles.
