Mercedes and Audi luxury saloons may be as quiet and well-built, but none is better at making you feel at home than the Jaguar XJ. Thanks to its unique fusion of traditional materials such as wood, leather and chrome with state-of-the-art dials and spectacularly funky interior design, the big Jag provides a home from home, or at least from the home you’d like to live in.
For a further £3,000, there’s no real argument against choosing the long-wheelbase version for it turns the XJ from a luxury car into a proper limo that will delight anyone lucky enough to travel in its sumptuous and beautifully appointed rear seats. Options here include airline-style reclining seats that are heated and cooled and boast a massage function and business trays. Not forgetting the two 10.2-inch dual LCD screens with wireless headphones. For all UK users, the fast and frugal diesel motor is the only sensible option.
