Breakdown cover gives you peace of mind when you’re on the road. If you break down on the motorway, or you can't get started at home, it's good to know help is at hand.
There are lots of breakdown providers to choose from, offering a range of cover levels, as well as a range of prices. Before you make a decision, it's important to do your research.
Price will play a role in your decision, but don’t forget to think about service and reputation. It’s worth reading reviews to help understand how customers rate their provider. You can get real feedback on customer service, response time and other aspects of their cover.
The RAC, like other breakdown cover providers, is included on the review site Trustpilot. You can read the latest RAC Breakdown Cover reviews here.
What does RAC Breakdown Cover include?
With other providers, entry-level cover only includes Roadside Assistance, which will help you if you break down over ¼ mile from home. But with the RAC, Roadside Assistance and At Home cover are always included as standard for new members - no upgrade needed. You'll also get unlimited callouts.
If you need any more cover, you can choose our 'Unlimited' cover instead - this includes National Recovery to any garage or destination in the UK. You also get unlimited callouts, for even more peace of mind.
-
Rescue anywhere: we won't make you upgrade for cover at home – wherever you break down we'll be there. When your patrol arrives, they’ll try to fix you on the spot. But if they can’t, they’ll tow you up to 10 miles (with Standard) or an unlimited distance (with Unlimited).
-
Onward Travel: The RAC offers a taxi from the garage as standard. And when you add Onward Travel, you can get a hire car while your car's being fixed. So you can carry on, even if your car can't.
