Can I cancel my car insurance policy?

If you choose to cancel your policy within 14 days of receiving your policy documentation, we will charge you an arrangement fee of £25, plus time on cover unless you have made a total loss claim in which case all outstanding payments will become due and no refund will be given. If you cancel after 14 days we will charge a £55 cancellation fee, plus time on cover unless you have made a total loss claim in which case all outstanding payments will become due and no refund will be given.

Can I manage my policy (view, amend, renew and claim) online?

You can now do the following with your RAC Car Insurance policy online:

  • Access your policy online 24-7
  • View, download and print your policy documents
  • Change your payment details
  • Make a payment

Simply register with the RAC Car Insurance Self Service Centre to get started. Don't forget to bookmark the link.

To make any other changes to your policy, please call 0330 159 1031.

What is legal cover?

Legal cover can help pay towards the costs incurred if you are faced with a motoring prosecution or towards the pursuit of your, your passengers or authorised driver's case following an accident. Legal assistance is also available to recover any uninsured losses, such as your policy excess, medical fees or damages for injury after a motor accident.

Is it safe to use my credit/debit card to purchase RAC Car Insurance?

Yes. The security of our site and your personal details are important to us, this site uses the latest technology in order to ensure that your personal details are secure. This is achieved through the use of encryption and a transport layer security (TLS).

How do I file an insurance-related complaint?

What is included in RAC Car Insurance Plus?

Where has the 'My Policy' section gone?

The 'My Policy' section was removed as part of an update to our Car Insurance product range which now searches from a range of insurance providers.

If you previously used this service and would like to make any changes to your existing policy beginning with letters 'RCR', please phone 0330 159 1031.

Can you explain about the courtesy car benefit included in my comprehensive policy?

If your car requires repairs as the result of a claim, a courtesy car can be offered. This is most commonly a Class A car, with a 1 litre size engine such as a Kia Picanto.

This service is offered by the garage for the duration of the repairs on your car, and subject to availability.

All garages used are part of the RAC approved vehicle repair network. All terms, conditions and excesses on your policy apply to your use of the courtesy car.

How do I track my claim?
You can track your claim 24 hours a day, seven days a week by contacting our Claims team. Your claims number can be found in your policy documentation.
Do all RAC Comprehensive Car Insurance policies now include a courtesy car as standard?
Subject to availability, a courtesy car will be provided in the event of a claim as long as you use one of our approved repairers. If you are an existing RAC Comprehensive policy holder and don't have the courtesy car feature, this will be added at your next renewal.
Will I lose my no-claims discount if the accident wasn't my fault?
Your no-claims discount won't be affected if you are shown to be not at fault and we can recover the costs from the other person's insurance.
Can I buy RAC car insurance over the phone?
Yes. You can call our sales enquiry line on 0330 159 1031.
How do I send you my proof of no claims?

If we have asked you to provide proof of your no claims status (NCD), please email it to RAC@insurance-system.co.uk, quoting your RAC Car Insurance policy number.

You can also upload your NCD proof via the self service centre online. If you're not registered to access the self service centre, you can call customer services on 0330 159 1031.
