Disabled / Blue Badge


What is Response?

With Response, our special service for Blue Badge holders, we will prioritise your call depending on your situation. Using this service means we'll alert a patrol that you are a Response Member before they reach you. With Response you can even call a patrol out to your home if your car won't start. In addition, in the unlikely event that we're unable to fix your car at the roadside within a reasonable time, we'll provide:

  • a tow to any UK destination or provide overnight accommodation
  • a replacement vehicle* for up to 3 days
  • or arrange for you to complete your journey by taxi, train or plane.

* Please note: If you need a hire car we will pay for a vehicle with an automatic gearbox if required. The vehicle will be 1600cc or the next lowest engine capacity available at the time. We cannot provide specially-adapted vehicles.


Joint Cover - offers the same level of cover you enjoy to a named member of your household.

Family Cover - available only in conjunction with Joint Cover, it extends that cover up to a further three named members of your household.

European Cover - if you're planning on travelling in Europe this option provides you with protection and peace of mind.

What if I'm a Blue Badge holder?

Response is a special service offered exclusively by RAC to Blue Badge holders. This comprehensive Breakdown package is a single UK policy that covers you for your personal car at the roadside. This membership level means we'll alert a patrol that you are a Response Member before they reach you. With Response you can even call a patrol out to your home, if your car won't start. In addition, in the unlikely event that we're unable to fix your car at the roadside within a reasonable time, we'll provide:

  • A tow to any UK destination.
  • Or provide overnight accommodation.
  • A replacement vehicle* for up to three days.
  • Or arrange for you to complete your journey by taxi, train or plane.

* Please note: If you need a hire car we will pay for a vehicle with an automatic gearbox if required. The vehicle will be 1600cc or the next lowest engine capacity available at the time. We cannot provide specially-adapted vehicles. Upgrade your membership to cover other members of your household or cover for driving in Europe.
