Artificial intelligence (AI) programme ChatGPT has continued its rise in popularity by being introduced to the latest range of DS vehicles.
The hugely popular tool has become a part of various industries in the past year, and will now be integrated into the ‘DS IRIS’ suite of connected systems.
This technology uses language models to understand and generate a natural and fluid interaction with the user.
By learning from huge amounts of data, ChatGPT can answer a wide range of questions and provide accurate and relevant information.
ChatGPT will now the driver’s travel companion in the DS3, DS4, DS7, and DS9.
The AI tool can be accessed in France, Germany, Spain and Italy – as well as the UK – in each of the languages of these countries.
Drivers can now ask for travel tips, information on where they are, traffic updates – and any question that comes to mind.
It will also notify the driver of any low emission zones.

Olivier François, Head of DS Automobiles, said: "Our mission at DS is to provide our customers with a unique onboard experience.
“As pioneers in the integration of ChatGPT into the automotive world, we are making a generative artificial intelligence that is fluid, intuitive and immersive accessible, transforming every trip into a unique journey.
“It is a high-tech revolution with unlimited potential that is part of one of the greatest 21st century societal transformations.”
Yves Bonnefont, Stellantis Chief Software Officer, followed by stating: ““Even knowing all the inner workings and binary computations that allow ChatGPT to interact with its user, there is a certain fascination with how this conversational artificial intelligence model works.
“Its ability to interact is certainly one of the most striking applications of AI of the past year around the world. Since ChatGPT has been available, we've worked to integrate it into our own systems. And we are pleased to be the first to offer this innovation in Europe.”
DS are not the only manufacturer using ChatGPT in its latest models.
In summer 2023, Mercedes-Benz announced that it would introduce the AI tool into its voice control functionality in a new range of vehicles.
Although it is currently only available in the United States, it could soon be accessible to drivers in the UK.
