Can RAC Auto Windscreens help me?

It's more than likely. We stock glazings for over 10,000 vehicles. And we have a fitting centre network covering the UK. There's likely to be a fitting centre in your area - or we can send one of our mobile units to you.

My windscreen is only slightly damaged - should it be replaced?

A chip in your windscreen will only get worse if neglected, and cracked windscreens are a major reason for MOT failure. However stonechips can be repaired by means of resin injection and most insurance companies will pay the full cost of a windscreen repair. This not only prevents the damage from getting worse, it also saves the expense of having to pay any glass excess required for a replacement windscreen.

Last year we saved over 65,000 windscreens by repairing small damages rather than replacing the whole screen.

What are your opening times?

Our fitting centres are open from 8.30 am till 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and 8.30 am till 12.30 pm on Saturday. Outside of these hours, work is carried out by our team of mobile fitters who are on call 24 hours a day every day of the year.

What is the relationship between RAC and Auto Windscreens?

RAC plc (formerly Lex Service PLC) is the parent company of RAC and bought Auto Windscreens during March 2001. Auto Windscreens is now part of RAC and operates as RAC Auto Windscreens. Lex made the purchase to extend RAC's range of services. It's an important step forward in RAC's strategy of providing a complete range of individual motoring solutions.

Are you specialists in automotive glazing?

We certainly are with our own factory in Chesterfield. It's the most modern in Europe and produces 250,000 windscreens every year.

What's your guarantee of quality?

Workmanship on re-glazing jobs is guaranteed for three years and we guarantee resin repairs on laminated front screens for five years.
