Clutch Slipping Issues

    Hi,

I have a problem in Ford Fiesta Zetec 05 where the clutch is slipping when reaching a certain range of RPM's. Basically in 3rd to 5th gear the car is slipping if I try to accelerate. Anything less than very cautious slow acceleration and this happens. After some time of driving the issue no longer exists and the car behaves as normal.

I've asked a friend to have a look and tried (from a cold start) keeping the handbrake on and attempting to stall it in 1st gear to see if the clutch had worn out. Doing this test he said it's behaving as normal and that there's still plenty of travel left in the pedal. Obviously it is still slipping though, and I'm on the motorway every day...

Any ideas? I'm pretty certain it's a worn out clutch but I thought I'd ask before I bite the bullet!

It may be oil on the lining of the clutch plate or the pressure plate is tired. Either way looks like a new clutch assembly.

Thanks buddy, what's your opinion on driving with it in this shape? It seems to behave as normal if I'm cautious, but I do plan a drive from Manchester to London and back this weekend. Too risky?

It could fail anytime really. You may get some warning as it slips more and more but if the linings wear too far the material will disintegrate and then no drive.
