    Hi all

first time on here so appologies if done wrong

    I have a Daewoo Matiz (I know)

it has started a new problem!

when driving along, suddenly you have no accelerator!
everything else is normal, electric, engine is on, etc etc
    but no 'go'

when you pull over, the engine light appears, and it soon stalls.. it re-starts, no problem, but if you re-start immediately... still no accelerator! if you leave it 5mins, it start up and drives away fine... for about 1min until it happens again!

Background info: it had a big overheat a few months ago.. resulting in a new head-gasket and intake-manifold. when I picked it up, it stalled 50yds down the road, I took it back and the garage said it was a temperature sensor? about £30 later I drove away and the car was fine for a month... until now!

Anyone any idea? is it the sensor? is it telling the car it's too hot?

the temp gauge shows around 1/2 which is normal for the car when driving ok, the coolant is full, the oil level is ok, though I wouldn't like to say for sure that there isn't some water in it (when the car overheated and killed the gasket, the water from the coolant contained went into the oil... this water could be new or could be that the oil wasn't changed/changed properly.

    I apreciate any ideas?

The engine management light coming on will have stored a fault code(s) in the ECU (computer for the engine) You need to get it read on a diagnostic scanner to find the fault.
One thing possibly is the exhaust blocking up causing your symptoms so have the catalyst and exhaust checked.
One other common fault on these cars is the exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) failing. This can only be tested with a good scanner or diagnostic computer.

A catalyst will start from about £150. The EGR valve costs about the same and is only available from the dealer.
This is why you need to get an accurate diagnosis.
