Ford Focus Dashboard Cluster Fault

  • Focusdisaster's Avatar
    Hi everyone,
thank you so much for putting all this information up. I have one BIG problem. I followed the steps to take off the PCB board and cleaned it with PCB cleaner, but now nothing works. The car will not start, the clocks dither rapidly and the warning lights show up randomly and then disappear. It's just not normal. Absolutely nothing works, not even the central locking. Is there anyone who has any ideas on where I went wrong or can advise me out of this black tunnel I find myself in?

I would be ever so grateful for any suggestions.

    Thank you in advance.

Start at the beginning and unplug and check the small pins in the connectors. Then carefully check over the PCB in case you have accidentally damaged something. Then reassemble carefully and ensure the plugs are pushed fully home and then tug them to make sure they are locked in. The central locking not working suggests a terminal is not connected.

Hi. Ive got the same fault with the instrument cluster on my ford c max and am contemplating giving the pcb clean up a go considering fords want £665 for replacing it. But being a novice myself I'm a bit apprehensive and i wondered if you managed to resolve the issues you encountered after doing it? Thanks

    slr2679,
I haven't had the chance to try it yet so cannot report anything. I have tried this procedure in the past, but this is the first time I have had this problem.
I'll report back as soon as I get a chance, which will most likely be the weekend.

    Greetings Slr2679,
Sorry for my long delay, I haven't been well.
So when everything went haywire, it must have been down to my battery. A jump start remedied that problem. (Don't know why I didn't think of that first, rather than panicking.)
My dash cluster seems to be working. It's not entirely perfect but it is working and being interrupted less than it was before. It's a big difference to it not working at all.
Have you tried it out yet?

Ford focus abs light not coming on with ignition

Hi everyone i have a 53 plate ford focus zetec, Just recently the abs light has been flicking on and of and then stayed on but now its gone of and the brake warning light is doing the same thing. I have noticed when i turn on the ignition the abs light does not come on could this be a dashboard cluster issue that needs cleaning as the abs is working when braking hard?
