Oil top-up for 2005 Diesel Ford Transit Van

    I need to top-up the oil on a Ford Transit Van (Diesel 2005 model).

    I've been looking at the oil you can buy but am a bit confused as to which I should by.

    There are two I've been looking at:

    CASTROL GTX Magnatec 5W-30

    and:

    CASTROL GTD Magnatec 10W-40

    The GTX oil meets the requirements of WSS-M2C919-B, but I am a little concerned to using this as it does not state whether or not it is suitable for diesel engines. The GTD oil is specifically for diesel, but the Owners Manual for the van states the use of 10W-40 may result in longer cranking periods and reduced engine performance.

    The GTX sounds better but can it be used in diesels?

    The best thing you can do is go here ;

    Castrol Site

    Look down the left hand side click under the tools heading which oil should I use and follow it from there.As I guessed what engine type your van has so just to be doubly sure check there.

    Thanks for the advice.

    I'm pretty sure now which one to go for.
