Nissan Micra is beyond me

    Hello,
A friend left his Micra with me while he went off travelling for a while. Now it is playing up. First of all, all the papers are in the box under the passenger seat, but I can' t get it open. Secondly, the car alarm is forever going off and it is annoying us and all our neighbours. Often is sounds for a few seconds and then cuts out, which seems pointless to me.
Lastly, just yesterday the belt gave out - it sounded like 1000 mice experiencing simultaneous slow death, so I guess it will need replacing. Are Micras always so difficult? Can anyone help with the first two problems?

When you have adjusted/replaced the belt, check the charge rate. I know of instances where if the battery is not charged properly, and the voltage drops, the alarm can sense this voltage drop and go off. (The alarm is triggered in the same way as when the door is opened and the interior light comes on.)
Sorry, can't help with the box.
