Vauxhall Astra bertone - limp mode.

Hi people. I've recently purchased a Vauxhall Astra convertible. My car when it warms up loses power and acceleration. Going up hill is a nighmare! Only happens when the car warms up. Having been to different garages no one has a clue. Have recently changed my acceleration pedal position sensor, no difference. Can anyone help??

First off we need far more detail as per this: http://www.rac.co.uk/forum/showthrea...u-MUST-include

Once we know what car you have post up any fault codes from the diagnostics that have been done and why you have changed the pedal.

    Make: Vauxhall
    Model: Astra convertible bertone
    Engine Size: 1.6
    Year: 2003/53 plate

Sorry I'm new to here. So didn't know that.
The codes that came up were: p1482 - fan relay 2 signal low
    - p1116 - coolant thermostat valve circuit low
    - p0141 - refer to vehicle manual
    - p1550 - limp home - electronic throttle control (limited performance)
    - p1122 - acclerator pedal position sensor 2 - voltage low
    - p1113 - port deactivation position sensor circuit low voltage

    - I was advised to change the accelerator pedal by a guy working at vauxhall who checked my car over. He said that if that didnt do the trick then it might be the ecu, as it could be showing a fault on a fault.
    - Also changed the air filter but hasnt made a difference?

    Thank you for your help.

The car was fine up until my foot slipped on the accelerator and the speed dial spun around and stopped working. Turning the car off and back on helped this issue. Few days later i realized my car wasn't accelerating as it should be, especially when going uphill as it would start to lose speed. Having shown this to a few mechanics they'd found that the engine management bulb had been taken out and obviously someone has been tampering with it in the past. I was told it could be the inlet manifold at that time but i wasn't sure at all so left it. The car did however become intermittent since so going from no acceleration at all if you turn it off and back on and when its not warm the car is absolutely fine accelerating like normal.

I'm with the guy at Vauxhall. The accelerator pedal very rarely if ever fails and the code is indicating that the signal it is sending to activate the throttle is not being processed by the ECU. I would definitely suspect the ECU based on those codes.

You can have it tested at one of these: http://www.ecutesting.com/ecu_testin...___repair.html
    or http://www.bba-reman.com/index.aspx?...directUrl=/US/

If you choose to fit a second hand ECU then it will need to be reset BEFORE it is removed from the scrap vehicle. Most places don't do this. Other option is to fit an ECU Kit from a breakers. Prices from £100 to £300 depending where you live.
