Hi, I have an Escort mk4 recently put 5spd box and linkage in it, The gear linkage is sloppy so i purchased a gearbox bush kit to sort out the sloppyness.
Anyway i have dismantled the linkage housing but dont know how to fit the parts theres nowhere for them to go, the oylt description i can give is they are like two T pieces and two springs, they where made by Bell autoparts and the part number is BMB1007
    any ideas
    thankyou

not all linkages were rebuildable, only the early ones, are you sure that the linkage you have is the one with the 'rebuildable' inners? The later linkages did have a spring on a plastic tag which hooked in to the chassis rail to provide some tension.

    Hi
Thanks for the info, mine is the one with the spring at the side. So i cant rebuld it. Never mind
I wonder if i can get one of the old type and make it fit my car.
The part was advertised as fitting upto 1990 mk 4 escorts
I will look into fitting a mk3 escort linkage, but they mount to the body different.
May just have to put up with a sloppy gearshift

thanks again for the speedy responce
