Bought 2nd Hand Car from Trade..big ends going....what can I do ?

My son bought his first car , from a Car Dealer , and within 6 weeks of purchase.....the big ends are going.

He has been quoted , £1,300 to get the car fixed.

The Garage has said he must pay towards it as well as them !

He is thinking about going to the small claims court !

Is he right ? What can he do ?

What are his rights ?

The car only cost £1300 in the first place.....Cash Sale......!

The dealer wrote Trade Sale on the receipt / contract......does that amke any difference ?

Is there any warrantly offered by the garage when you bought the car?

I think you can seek advise from the local fair trading office or the consumer direct as what you can/should do against this seller.

But , it will not be a "New Engine"......so it could have faults of it's own !

Where do we stand ?

No "Written warranty".....but a Proper Dealer.....selling RAC Inspected cars !
