Vw lt32 2.5tdi 2003 83 model brake probs

    Hi,
Just changed front pads, and after gentle wearing in, pedal gets spongy/sinks to follow, hence several pumps to get it operating as it should.
Werent till later, clocked on new printout of this procedure, a bit not printed last time (dodgy printer).
This missing info stated to rig up the brake pedal loader, before releasing the brake caliper/old pads.
Is there anyone out there who knows what this contraption does? can it be done without ?it i.e someone else applying pressure to pedal and imitate actions whatever it is?, in order to have safe brakes.
Thanks for technically saving my bacon in advance.

I haven't heard of it myself. Wonder if you have dragged some air past the master cylinder seals when pushing the pistons back? Or the seals in it have turned a bit. Could try opening the caliper bleed screw and pumping hard to expel any possible air.
Did a quick search on Google and found this link. May not help you much though...

Have you checked condition of the front hoses? Get an assistant to press pedal hard while you watch/feel the hoses - they might be swelling.

Other than that, I'd say air trapped. How did you move the pistons back? did you just force them or open the bleed nipple then push them back ?
