hi i was wondering if there is anybody out there who can help me with the problem i am having with my car.
it has happened a few times with me when i have gone to over take other cars i put my accellerator down but not the floor.
each time i have done it the engine management warning light comes on and power dies on my car only then am i able to crawl home lucky to get upto 30mph.
i put my accellerator pedal to the floor and there is barely any power.
the next day when i start the car the engine management light is still on but i have full power again.
just wondering if anyone had any ideas what it could be before i end up taking it to a garage to be repaired and them taking me for a ride.

A fault code will be stored in the engine control unit as the light is on. The garage will connect a scanner and the code displayed will probably identify the fault.
From your description it could be a sticking EGR valve but the diagnostic will not be guessing.
