Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can give me advice with my speeding ticket. I got caught doing 35 in a 30 by a mobile unit. The offence took place on the 12/07/2019 and my NIP letter date is the 20/08/2019. All my DVLA records are up to date, Ive had no change of address or anythiong like that.
I've heard that, if the NIP was issued after 14 days of the offence they can't prosecute, is this true? And if so do I have a case?

Are you sure you're the registered keeper? Do you have the V5C in your possession, and are all the details correct?

Since the OP has said that all the relevant details are in order, and the letter is dated over a month after the offence, it does seem that the police are being a bit cynical by pursuing it after such a delay in time.

Oh dear - got the same error message again, and my above post only materialised after another log out/log in. Now wondering if I will have to repeat the performance for this post to appear?

I did do that, lauwilli6, and it went through as far as I know. However, taking the same course as that of Drivingforfun, the "refresh" button got around it.

Hi Martin

Even if the NIP is late, there is no time limit on the s172 request and you MUST reply naming the driver.

I'd be inclined also to phone the ticket unit and query the lateness. Better to kill it off informally if you can than to fight it in court.
