What's the game with this forum?

Watcher: Forgive me if I am teachin my grandmother...., but I had the same problem, and my way round it was to open threads in New Tabs, and the same when posting replies. This works for me, and I haven't had a 'drop-out' since I started doing it.

This is literally the first I've heard of it, but I log on a slightly different way. I'll definitely look into it for you - what browser and OS are you using?
-
Watcher, try removing your cookies and temp internet files, for the Internet Options in your Control Panel,
then do a reboot
It could be an old cookie that's causing that.;) -
Trying to stay logged in
Thanks Mike, I generally use AOL, and Windows XP - this doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enugh to be very annoying - especially when I've put a lot of effort into a post that then vanishes!!
Rolebama - appreciate what you say, but don't under stand a word! :-) What's "threads in New Tabs"??
And Smudger - thanks, but cookies and similar rubbish are removed every time I shut down - not that that should matter! And if I reboot I STILL loose the post I'm trying to submit! -
I normally write posts in my word processor, while still logged on to the forum. When I have done I highlight, copy, switch back to the forum (icon bottom left of window) and paste. Should the forum play up the original is still sitting in the word processor (icon at bottom left of window). Hope that helps.

Do you have to do that in all forum pages, or just on this site?
Seems to be a lot of hassle to go through, hope you get it sorted soon.
PS. I clean my hard drive every night as well before I log off, safer Eh!;) -
Watcher, instead of clicking on a topic with your left mouse button, click the right mouse button. This will bring up a different menu system. One of the items listed should be 'Open Link In New Tab'. This should enable you to open the topic on a new page in your browser. Hope that makes sense.

Still not sure!
Thanks mate, but I still don't get anthing about "tabs" - I get the option to open a new window -don't know if that's what you mean, or if it will make a difference! I'll try it for a bit :) -
What version of Internet Explorer are you running (if indeed, you're running IE) - if it's IE6, it's well worth upgrading to a new version, and Microsoft will even make a small donation to charity if you do so.

Logging on, and on...
Hi Mike,
I have version 8 of IE,but I don't generally use it, I use AOL and I don't normally have any problems anywhere! -
If it's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aol_Browser then it was last updated in 2006 and would definitely not be IE8! Can you try it in IE8 for me and see if the problem persists? -
I am using IE8 now via BT internet via y-a-h-o-o if you follow me. Just checked about in help it is IE8. Hope that helps -
Browser
I DEFINITLY have IE 8 (that's where I got the vesion number; actually 8.0.6001.18702, according to "properties".
I understand that AOL "pick-a-backs" on IE. -

Watcher,
I am not sure if you are sorted out yet but I just forgot to tick ‘remember me’ at logging on. I then had to keep logging on at short intervals. Might be worth having a go yourself. For security, I do not normally tick ‘remember me’ on other sites. -
I have noticed that if I tick the "remember me" box, it fills in my P/Word for me. It used to do that on every site, but recently I've noticed that I cant use Auto-Fill on my MSN or ***** Email accounts any more?
This only happened after the most recent update for Firefox? Its no big deal, just a bit nippy having to fill it all in every time I log on:rolleyes:
