By chance, whilst crawling down a hill in heavy traffic and having a shiny van in front of me I noticed that everytime I applied my brakes the front lights glowed and went off when I came off the brake pedal?? I checked later and it appears when brake pedal pressed the front bulbs glow. Is there an electrical fault somewhere with a leakage?? The brake lights work fine and just concerned it might be a sign something might need doing now before gets too major? I have a 2001 Ford Focus 1.8TD. Many thanks in advance.

Probably someone has fitted the wrong brake light bulb, A single filament instead of a dual filament.

Moisture on the rear lighting cluster can be a cause of that as well? I found that out, when I left the boot lid open on my Ford Cortina (long time ago) while taking shopping into the house.
The cluster got wet, and caused me a lot of problems with the electrics, until I got a hair dryer out and sorted it;)
