Hi, my mum has a Yreg Scenic 1.6 16v and we are having problem with it starting warm or cold, or it just cuts out after starting fine, we bought a RAC fault code reader to see of there were any problems but none have come up, we have tried resovling the problem with a new air filter, oil change, oil filter and fuel filter, and we also have 1 ignition coil left to break, it wouldt start for my mum on the drive today, so she left it there and i tried the reader again and manged to get it started after 2 tries, on the second try i had tryin to start for about 15 seconds then it coughed n started, we hope someone here has advice about the problem, so we dont have to pay expensive amounts of money to garages just for labour.

There have been many posts about poor starting in Renaults. First check is the crankshaft sensor. It may be covered in clutch plate dust, or a poor connection to the wiring loom. There is a modified wire and connector available from Renault. If you use the search tab you should find all sorts of useful info.
