saab 9-5 3.0 V6 TiD camshaft probs

    We recently bought a 9-5 3.0 V6 TiD, its a 02 plate with 130k on the clock.

The car was showing symptoms of the head gasket blowing so we took it apart and skimmed heads ect.
We went on saab central looking for camshaft settings and a chap said liners will have dropped etc.
This may be the case but we need to put car back together first so we can diagnose this but we don't have a diagram to show the settings of the camshaft, Can anyone hel????

Then we can get it checked to see if liners have dropped, :(

As you look at the engine from the front:

Cam sprocket on the left - timing mark is at 11.30 position and lines up with notch on cover behind.
Cam sprocket on the right - 12.30 same marks as above.
Fuel pump at bottom - mark on pump lines up with mark on cover at 4.30

There are torque settings for the tensioner and guide pulleys. Are you sure you are competent to do this work as serious expensive damage will result if the belt breaks.

many thanks, that sounds like settings for pulleys not cams?

You have removed the sprockets from the cams then? I take it they are not keyed on to the shafts? If not, perhaps then, you will need to find a Vauxhall/GM/Saab specialist with the info then you will probably need a dial gauge to set it all up.
Unless, like Alfas, there are specialist locking tools that clamp one of the cam lobes in one position. Might be worth ringing Andrew Page motor factors or similar and asking if they are available.
