my astra is trying to regen everyday now, bloddy dpf? even on live readout on op-com the dpf saturation goes down to 31% after regen then next day back up to 96%,anyone had the dpf removed and ecu updated on one of these, cheers

Many places do this now. A Google search for DPF removal will find someone close to you. Or, take the DPF off and clean it out with some DPF cleaner or EGR cleaner. May work for not much cost.

cheers hometune, getting it removed tomorrow and software update, will keep you all updated on how i get on

It will go like a rocket!!

ok folks had the dpf removed and ecu patched car runs fine no lights ect,i may be wrong but it now feels ever so slightly under powered? anyway i think i was expecting more so could be exactly the same, but i got it done because it was trying to regen all the time and was running fast at stand still,so should has better mpg now at least, will let you no over the next few days

If there is carbon build up due to a partially blocked DPF then very likely the EGR is also a bit coked up too. May be worth putting some EGR cleaner in the tank as it is a time consuming job to remove it.

ok glow plug light flashing today wont go off,no faults on op-com,but when i press clear faults ecn 000000 comes up on trip meter?

Is that just in engine ECU you have looked? Have a look through all the ECUs in case there is a fault somewhere else.

What reading do you see for the DPF? If you see one then it probably hasn't been deleted properly.
What reading on a hot idling engine do you get for the EGR?

Removing a dpf isn't a fix! you will be digging a bigger hole for your self,When the new EU regulations are introduced your car will not pass a nct, And the soft ware cant be re written back in to your ecu so your ecu will have to be replaced and coded,

Along with that a dpf will have to be mounted back on your car,

    Just some thing to consider,

so they are going to plug every car in and read there ecu?

ok hometune what do you think

Pulse Ratio Boost Pressure Solenoid Valve 49%
EGR Position Commanded (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) 51%
EGR Pulse Ratio (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) 16%
EGR Position Feedback (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) 50%
Swirl Level Control Solenoid Valve Pulse Ratio 0.00%
Throttle Position PWM Servo Signal 76%
    Throttle Position Sensor Signal 22%

No they wont do that. If the DPF has been removed by taking out the core and leaving the steel outer casing along with its fittings, then there is NO way any MoT garage will be able to tell. They are not allowed to dismantle or remove any parts on your car.
However, if the outer case has been replaced with a straight piece of exhaust pipe then if/when this comes in there may be a problem.

Throttle Position PWM Servo Signal 76%
    Throttle Position Sensor Signal 22%

I assume this is on a hot (80C+) idling engine and there are no values for the DPF? Z17DTJ engine code?

    1. boost solenoid pulse duty 50-70% (49%)
    2. EGR solenoid valve actual value 5-25% (16%)
    3. EGR commanded and actual must be the same within 1 or 2% (51% and 50%)
    4. swirl flap solenoid valve duty cycle 90-100% (0.00%)
    5. throttle position 65-90% (76%)
    5. throttle valve position 15-25% (22%)

The only incorrect reading is the swirl flap solenoid (if I have the right engine code). If the flaps are not opening or stuck then you will be down on power. Check the solenoid is operating. You can do this in the 'actuator' menu.
If the solenoid is working - best to remove it from the engine, reconnect electrically and do the test so you can see it moving - then the flaps will be stuck with carbon build up. If this is the case then most of the inlet and pipework will be blocking up.
If the solenoid is not working then replace it.
The turbo may also be partially coked and preventing the vanes sliding easily. This is the trouble when they start to coke up.
