GPS and heated front screens
-
I just ordered a Mondeo which features a heated windscreen, only for a colleague to tell me today that my portable satnav might not work because the heating elements could block the GPS signal from coming through the glass. Does anyone out there have experience of using a portable satnav in a Mondeo??

Mondeo query
I have an ST220 with heated front screen (amongst a host of optional extras) and do not have any problems with my sat nav unit (RAC Sat Nav 110), other than software problems and the lack of updates supplied by the RAC.
PS I have my unit sited in the middle of the front screen.

Heated front screen
Needed to turn on the heated front screen for the last two mornings, no problem receiving signal on sat nav unit.

Glad to read that....
...because my new ST arrives in a couple of hours, and I hadn't even realised there might be a problem....:) -
ST Tdci saloon(company wouldn't let me have the petrol) - s/roof, tech pack, leather, park assist in machine silver. Thought about the satnav, but didnt want to use up all of my options on that one thing.

2.2 TDCIs rock... I was blown away on the test drive, ordered mine last week and am now waiting for delivery like an excited child does for Christmas!
How long did you have to wait for delivery on your ST??? -
I've now waited three months...and there is a tale to tell that is on going. It should have been delivered last Friday, the dealership then didn't have drivers available. On Tuesday, it should have arrived, but they had for some reason forgotten. Yesterday I waited till 3 pm, when they then said they had no drivers...today, it should have been here by 11, I am now told it is in another dealer somewhere in the Thames Valley because it broke down on the way here. I'm seriously contemplating telling them to go and stick it....

That sucks. Sounds like your dealer is one to avoid. And I hope for your sake that it's not a genuine breakdown that brought delivery to a hault today. Maybe the delivery driver fancied a nice slow Friday lunch down the pub...??

14:30 - the dealer called to say the car is on road test having been taken to a dealer local to me. He said he'd call me back by 14:15. I haven't even got the car, and I am thinking about refusing delivery when it does get here.
-
Road test? I hope that's not the sort of road test where they see how fast it goes and what the handling's like!
Seriously though, I hope the car's a good'un when it arrives. If you don't get a grovelling appology from the dealer then you should take the matter up with Ford UK and see what they can offer to compensate. -
Well the update ; the car eventually arrived at 17:00. The engine management system had stopped the car, and it was towed to a Ford main dealer near me, who on investigating, had dropped the fuel tank, cleaned and flushed all the fuel lines, and then put it all back together complete with a full tank of diesel. I wouldn't have believed it if they hadnt shown me the invoice from the dealership!
Car is now with me, and is superb.....:) -
I'm very glad you had a happy ending, and are now enjoying the car. Fingers crossed that I don't go the same roller-coaster ride when mine finally gets delivered!

i have a Ford Escort Mk 2 with heated windscreen
and i have a TomTom Go 910, and it refused to work! well, it would barely get a signal and if it did, it would be very weak and would drop randomly,
i got very annoyed and decided that the tomtom was faulty so i called the people i bought it from
and i have to admit, i had a bit of a go, but they were very helpful and explained i would need a external antenna so i bought and as soon as i used it, it worked great :D -
Thanks for that.
I'm due to pick up my Mondeo on Monday so hopefully can report back on how it works with my Sony sat nav next week!
