Honda Civic - Wheel Speed Sensor
-
This needs replacing on my 1997 Honda Civic Estate (1.8v). Been quoted £300 plus VAT to get this done at the dealership. Can source the part for £35. Just need to know what is involved in replacing it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I would buy a Haynes manual and see what is involved, then make a decision. That seems like a very high price for something which sounds a relatively minor job. My guess would be that it is a matter of having to remove a lot to get at it, so labour intensive.

Honda ABS sensors are very, very expensive. Usually around £170+vat. The dealer will be charging you around an hour's labour at £100/hr. Grand total £300.
The only real problem will be if the bolt retaining the sensor to the hub is seized in, which is very common. Then it's down to your mechanical skills to remove it :)
