Picasso wiper fault

  • sinkdink78's Avatar
Hi I have a citroen picasso 2.0 diesel 2002 model. Was driving in wet conditions Last week when my wipers stopped working. Got the car home and checked the fuses they were fine. I then checked the wiper motor which is ok as well. When u put the wiper indicator 2 intermittent or auto u can hear a click from the ecu unit. Could u please help with this if possible. I've ran out of ideas. Thanks

What did you check about the wiper motor? Sounds to me like that is what is at fault. Depending on what tools you have, ensure the wiper motor is getting a feed of approx. 12V from the connector. If so, replace wiper motor and retest!

    Hope this can help you.

I replaced the wiper motor and still nothing. Still the clicking from the ecu.

My next step if it was me would be to carry out a actuator test using a Citroen's DiagBox diagnostic program. This would be able to tell you if the car was electrically sound which would lead to the motor being at fault. Alternatively, you can test to see the motor is getting a 12V supply when wiper is activated by you. If not, would lead to suggest a broken wire in the harness.

Sounds like water may have entered the BSI - body control module. Check for water damage which is quite common.
You could also remove the SH fuse from the fuse box for 10 mins, refit and try, in case the BSI has thrown its dolly out the pram.

As said above, using either Diagbox or a suitable scanner like Bosch KTS series, you can actuate the wipers and this will prove if the circuits are good. It also eliminates faulty switches.
