Hi i have a 1999 Astra Td fitted with the Gm diesel engine. I broke down in this the other day and was recovered. I was told its either the Ecu or fuel pump as there is fuel at the pump but not getting to the injectors.
Does anyone have any suggestions before i go out and buy a new pump as they are very pricey and i dont want to buy one if its not that.
Thanks in advance ;)
Hi Sussex patrol, Yes it does have the Vp44 pump fitted. If i fit a recon one does it req reprogramming or anything like that or is it plug and play so to speak?
Also are there any other specialist tools required
Thanks for the help :D
I believe it has to be coded to the vehicle due to the immobiliser-as for special tools I don't know as I have never changed one-I would have thought at the very least you will need the relevant tools/pins to set the belt/chain timing.
Excellent thanks for the info. Is there anyone else out there that can shed some light on this coding business as i dont want to fit the pump then still be stuck. :)
ahh yes also while i remember after about 10 seconds of cranking the rev counter and various othe gauges start to flick around dont know if this has any relevance.
I would imagine the gauges are flickering due to battery voltage when cranking. Have you had the vehicle read for fault codes if so what were they? and has the live data been viewed to confirm that the pump has failed? otherwise you are going down the route of expensive guesswork............
