Second-Hand Fiat Punto Evo
Used Fiat Punto Evo
The Punto Evo replaced the Grande Punto in 2010. On the outside it doesn't look all that different from the earlier car, apart from a rather sleeker front end. But what Fiat did make huge changes to was the interior, giving it a more classy feel overall. Also new in the Evo was the MultiAir 1.4-litre petrol engine. The MultiAir is available in normally aspirated 8-valve and 16-valve turbo versions delivering 105 and 135bhp respectively. A 1.3 MultiJet diesel is on offer too in 75 and 95bhp versions. There's a Dualogic automatic gearbox available with some engine and trim packages.
What You Get
There are plenty of trim options when it comes to used Fiat Punto Evos, including Active, Dynamic, Easy, Eleganza, GBT, Lounge, Pop and Sporting. Add in three and five-door bodies, Brio packs on some versions and an Abarth version and you're spoiled for choice when it comes to buying second hand. Entry-level Active models have ABS brakes, front and knee airbags, power steering, electric mirrors, electric front windows, CD/MP3 player with controls on the steering wheel and the Blue&Me system that provides Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Dynamic trim adds side airbags, air-conditioning and a leather steering wheel. Eleganza adds alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and cruise control. In spring 2011 the Eleganza versions were dropped and a MyLife trim level was introduced with alloy wheels front fog lights and sporty styling touches. Inside the Fiat Punto Evo is a big step up from the Grande Punto with softer curves and better switches and surfaces. All models have electric windows and steering wheel audio controls.
How it Drives
While the front tyres can struggle for grip under hard acceleration, a used Punto Evo generally feels nippy and fun to drive. The ride can feel a bit hard on bumpy surfaces, especially in the sporty models on large alloys. All versions get a City button which lightens the steering at low speeds, this combined with good visibility makes the Punto Evo easy to drive around town and straightforward to park. There's plenty of adjustment for the seat and steering, so you should be able to find a comfortable driving position.
