I have Standard RAC breakdown cover which includes a "10-mile max tow to a garage".

My car is broken down at my address and needs to go to a specific specialist garage to be fixed, that isn't the nearest garage to my house.

Will RAC come and tow me to that specific garage if I just call them on the day?

Or are there conditions around the free tow, eg I'd have to call them out for a breakdown first, even though I already know the car needs repairing at the garage?

Related question: the garage is 12 miles away via the quickest route (A-road), but under 10 miles via a slower route on local roads. Does that fit the "within 10 miles" criteria?

Those terms distinguish between "at the roadside" and "at home". The transport to a garage doesn't seem to apply "at home"

Does your cover include "At Home"? This is part of the "Complete" cover which is the most expensive. If not, they will not even attend.

Although that does suggest I could just push it 10 yards down the road from my house then call them... :)

You need to read the actual terms and conditions, rather than the marketing blurb you quoted earlier.
I suspect you'll need to push it a lot further than that (think quarter of a mile). And be prepared to commit fraud.

Hi, I couldn't get an answer from RAC so rather than risk problems on the day, I took the slightly pompous advice of the last poster above and just booked a private tow :)
