Default car purchase from owner abroad

A couple selling me their daughter's car who has recently relocated abroad. She has emailed me to confirm she doesn't mind me paying in her mum's account. But she is not here to sign any V5 or purchase agreement. Should I pay to her parents and can I get them to sign for her?

PS: they live at the same address as hers and her driving licence has the same address too.

So long as you are happy with the car and its provenance, who signs the V5 is not really your problem. Just prepare some king of receipt outlining the transaction (reg No price, date, address etc) and I am sure that all will be well.

I cannot imagine that the DVLA do any kind of checks on signatures anyway.

If they had said that the car was theirs - you would not know any different would you?
