Default National Mileage Register..RAC HPi Check..Help

    Hi all
Passed my driving test last week and put a deposit down on a car last weekend due to pick it up tomorrow.
Ive just done an RAC HPi check on the car.
The mileage shown in the car is 29000 but the check brought up that in June 2011 the register has a reading of 121000.

Has the car been clocked? Or is it a misreading?
    Its a 2006 car.
My dads going to call the garage up later

What model is it? Many older cars only had a 5-digit odometer, so they would go from 99,999 back to 00,000.

That would be consistent with 121,000 two years ago and 129,000 now.

121,000 in five years is a lot for such a small car. Unlikely, but not impossible.

I suspect the 121,000 is an error. Ask to see service records, old MOTs etc, for evidence of the true mileage.

If it has been, you will see the signs, like wear on the pedals, condition of the paintwork, especially on the front. Check the condition of the seats, especially the drivers one.

Check under the bonnet for age signs, also the "kick areas" on the plastic, around the doors, good luck.

I agree with Smudger, there will be wear signs on a car that has done 121,000 miles. You can check some of the MOT history on the Govt website, but you will need the numbers off the V5 to do so. https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle

Thank you for that MOT history link! Never knew such a thing existed.

Just found out my car has failed 3 times on a front suspension coil... all from the previous owner, bouncing up kurbs? I think so.

    Washer fluid issues...
    Never replaced their tyres...
And oh so much fun... -> Headlights aren't aligned.

It's had a rough life, average of 11K/yr since it was made.
