Administrator Owen, I must respectfully take exception to Question 3, "Which is fastest, 100mph, 100kph or 100 knots?", in which you give the answer as "100mph". A "knot" is the abbreviation for a nautical mile per hour, and a nautical mile is 2000 yards, therefore one has to go faster to cover 2000 yards than one does to cover the standard land mile of 1760 yards, therefore 100 knots is faster than 100mph.
Aye! and if you Google for the history of the nautical knot it goes right back to the days when they used to tow a rope with knots tied into it, and so on.............
Thanks everyone (for shame - my father used to be a sailor as well!)
I've swapped the set of possible answers around for that question
As penance i'll read up on the nautical knot since Italy v Germany game seems to be over...
I failed this one dismally!
The question about knots is gone.
