Unhappy Zafira 1.9 CDTI Design 08

My Zafira 1.9 CDTI Design 150brake 08 plate, it has power but will not start or even turn over, it started once after doing a service and changing all the filter, after discovering a fuel leak where i never tightened to cap properly, after tightening the fuel cap it will not start, the battery is fully charged and the dash lights are on but no error lights showing, turning the key nothing. I even tried towing it but nothing is happening. The car has had a lot of work done to it in the past few months and all new parts have been fitter, like a new turbo mass air flow sensor new generator new starter all done in a garage, the car was running well till the service now nothing, any suggestions.

Your car has a unit called the column integrated module (CIM) which is mounted under the steering wheel. When you put the key in and turn this unit communicates with all the other modules on the car. If this unit is faulty it will not let the car turn over. There could be many reasons why the engine does not turn over including a failed starter motor, a broken earth lead, a broken wire etc etc.
Without access to specialised diagnostic equipment you cannot test the CIM.
You can eliminate the starter motor by removing the small wire from it, putting a meter positive to it and the other to earth, turn the key to start and see if you get 12 volts. If you do the starter has failed. Otherwise you need proper diagnostic equipment.
When replacing the fuel filter, you must always fill the housing with clean diesel before fitting the top. This saves unnecessary strain on the starter motor.
