Woman, 106, to break circuit record

The record for the oldest person to complete a lap at the famous Brands Hatch motorsport circuit is set to be broken by a 106-year-old woman with a lifelong "love of speed".

And a BMW M3 will be the weapon of choice for Dulcibella King-Hall as she tackles the legendary Kent circuit, just a few days before her 107th birthday.

Miss King-Hall will complete her lap as a passenger, making her the first member of the public to experience the track in one of the circuit's new BMW M3s, which are capable of reaching 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds.

Lena Akers, social events co-ordinator at the Halliwell Nursing Home in Tunbridge Wells where Miss King-Hall has been a resident since 1983, said: "Cars are an abiding passion of Dulcibella's. During the Second World War she tested a wide variety of vehicles commandeered from civilian use. Her love of speed has her constantly asking our mini bus driver 'to go a little faster, please'."

She added: "The last few years have seen her driven in some style in Rolls Royce limousines and Porsches; cars that conform to her liking for vehicles that have 'sufficient go' in them."
