Touring relaunch the Disco Volante

After almost 50 years in the wilderness, exclusive Italian coachbuilder Touring is back and has launched a new model to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the release of Alfa Romeo's iconic Disco Volante.

The new design shares the Alfa Romeo 8C's 4.7-litre V8 engine, which produces 450bhp and can do 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds, hitting a top speed of 181mph.

The bodywork is made from carbon fibre and aluminium to make it as light as possible.

The interior is upholstered in a mix of leather and Alcantara, with futuristic aeronautical dials and switches that have been also borrowed from the 8C.

This, however, is not just your ordinary, off-the-shelf supercar.

The Disco Volante is so exclusive that only eight will be made and each one will be designed and produced to the owner's own specifications.

Touring hasn't even set a guide price for each car, announcing that the cost will be agreed separately with each buyer.

Just imagine the trouble you'd go to find a car insurance quote .
