A new version of the TomTom app has been put on sale for users of Apple's iPhone and iPad devices.
Existing TomTom customers can however get hold of the new iPad version for no additional charge, keeping scarce money free for other costs such asbreakdown cover.
The new software now has a higher resolution for a more crisp print and the user interface has been changed to suit an enlarged screen. It also works with Apple's newest mobile software, iOS5.
TomTom's Corinne Vigreux said: "This new release, now officially called TomTom App for iPhone/iPad, is a logical next step for us.
"Our customers asked us for iPad features, and now they have them.
"We have enhanced everything the iPad user sees and interacts with on the touch-screen."
A new version of the map feature is included in the new software, featuring updated information on roads, speed cameras and points of interest.
