Seaside resorts are set to see an increase in the number of visitors this summer, according to new figures released by Hotels.com.
UK seaside destinations saw a 362% year-on-year rise in internet searches in March.
There was a 459% year-on-year increase in internet searches for Weston-super-Mare in Somerset last month, while those for Whitstable in Kent and Lyme Regis in Dorset were up 342% and 330% respectively.
Other destinations to see a sharp rise in internet searches include Dartmouth in Devon and Morecambe in Lancashire.
Alison Couper, fromHotels.com, said: "It appears that Brits are turning to childhood nostalgia by looking to visit classic seaside destinations for their 2011 holidays.
"It is great to see age-old British favourites such as Weston and Lyme flying the UK flag, as many holidaymakers look to the locations they enjoyed as children when planning what we've coined the 'Vintage Vacation'.
"Those wanting trips down memory lane this summer should also look to Brighton, Blackpool and Bognor Regis for the quintessential seaside holiday."
