Rally contest reaches season's end

The fiercely-contested 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) will come to an end this weekend, with the RAC MSA Rally of Scotland kicking off on Thursday 19 November.

Kris Meeke, from Peugoeot UK, has already secured his place at the head of the driver's championship, and his team has sealed the driver's championship,

Co-driver Paul Nagle helped the ulsterman hold off challenges from Jan Kopecky, who finished second in his Skoda, and Freddy Loix, who came third with his Peugeot Sport Belgium car.

Rally of Scotland sees Meeke joined by rising star Adam Gould in a sister 207, under the BF Goodrich banner. A panel of journalists, the British motor sport governing body, BF Goodrich and rally team Kronos Racing selected Gould, and this will be the Bristol based driver's first time in a S2000-format rally car.

The rally runs from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 November and is based in Stirling and Perth. The 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge starts in Monaco on 19 January.
