New Hurac‡n unveiled by Lamborghini

The successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo has been revealed by the Italian supercar giant.

The new Hurac‡n has similar external stylings to its predecessor, but comes with a completely revamped engine set-up which is expected to significantly improve performance.

A brand new V10 engine churns out a staggering 602bhp that is supposedly able to reach a top speed of more than 202mph.

The naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre mid-mounted engine produces revs of up to 8,250rpm with 413lb.ft of torque kicking in at 6,500rpm.

With an impressive 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds, and 0-124mph in just 9.9 seconds the Hurac‡n is faster than the outgoing Gallardo - even if it is slightly slower than the new Porsche 911 Turbo S or the top-performing Nissan GT-R.

Unexpectedly the Hurac‡n's engine also meets Euro 6 emission regulations too.

The manual gearbox used in the Gallardo has been scrapped in favour of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that has been borrowed from Porsche, which is also owned by the Volkswagen Group.
