Birmingham City striker Marlon King has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after his car hit a pedestrian, who was forced to go to hospital.
The alleged incident took place on Bishops Bridge Road at the junction with Eastbourne Terrace, Paddington, central London.
An ambulance crew took a man in his late 40s to a central London hospital, with King later arrested by City of London Police officers. The pedestrian escaped with non-life-threatening injuries.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed a 33-year-old man had been arrested and taken to a central London police station for questioning.
"He has been bailed to mid-September pending further inquiries. Detectives from Westminster are investigating," she said.
The former Watford and Coventry City forward was jailed for 18 months in 2009 for sexual assault and ABH.
