James Bond car to be auctioned off

A James Bond car is expected to fetch over £3.5 million at an auction scheduled to take place in October this year.

Driven by actor Sean Connery in the Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball, the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 will go under the hammer at the Battersea Evolution arena on October 27.

The vehicle - with UK registration number FMP 7B - will be auctioned by RM Auctions, together with Sotheby's, at its annual Automobiles of London event.

The Aston Martin will feature a variety of operational gadgets - including machine guns, bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen.

The James Bond car is set to go on a public display at a Bond-themed Midsummer Classic/Thunderball Concours d'Elegance and black-tie reception at the Stoke Park Club in Buckinghamshire.

The first confrontation between the fictional MI6 agent 007 and villain Auric Goldfinger also took place at the Stoke Park Club, in Stoke Poges.
