Italian Job voted top car flick

Motorists have voted the 1969 film, The Italian Job, as the best ever car movie in a survey by Honda.

The crime caper took the number one spot on Honda's list of top 10 car flicks ahead of other classics such as Bullit, Cannonball Run and The Blues Brothers.

But the iconic movie starring Minis proved the more popular among men - capturing a third of the male votes - than women.

Grease, the 1971 musical starring John Travolta, was the favourite of female voters, with nearly one third of them picking it as their top choice.

Honda carried out the survey to mark the start of its "Saturday Night at the Drive In" scheme that will run throughout the British Touring Car Championship season.

As part of the campaign, Honda dealer showrooms will host a series of screenings of car movies chosen by members of the public who took part in the survey.
